Choosing socks
Socks are the sleeper hit of the swag table. Hand someone another pen and they'll nod politely. Hand them a pair of socks with your mascot on the ankle and they'll put them on in the hallway. Custom socks work well for welcome kits, trade shows, charity events, sports teams and any company that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Artwork plays by different rules on a stretchy, narrow canvas. Fine lines and small text tend to lose their shape, especially where the fabric stretches over the heel and calf, so bold icons and simple patterns are the safest bet. A repeating logo often reads better than one large placement. Your proof will show the layout, so give it a good look before you sign off.
Sizing is a lot more forgiving than apparel, though it's still worth thinking about the size ranges available if your group spans big feet and small ones. Length changes the feel too: an ankle sock is hardly seen, while a crew or tall sock gives the design more room to show off. Colour is where you can have fun, because no one expects socks to be sensible.
